RELIGION

Religion

Religion has always played an important role in the lives this glorious people. As farmers, our forebears trusted and looked up to the creator to send the rain and grant them abundant harvest and protect them from marauders. The belief in the providence and protection of God became etched into the consciousness of the people who in turn reached out to the creator.

A small number of the indigenes continue to practice their traditional religion through shrines like Aja-ana, Ngene Apkaka, Nwadiana etc.

The vast majority of the indigenes of Enugwuabo are now Christians. Churches in Enugwuabo include the St. James Anglican Church, The St. Andrews Catholic Church, Riches of Christ and many other Pentecostal Churches too numerous to mention. Despite the variety of Christian denominations a strong sense of family unity permeates Christianity in the town and this culminates in the annual Enugwuabo Prays event where all come together for thanksgiving and prayer.
