Ukaji and his brother Nkwere inhabited and settled in Nkwere land, East of Mmam River several hundred years ago, sharing boundaries with Awlaw Isiama, Etiti and much later, with Inyi.. It was the search for habitable and fertile land for agriculture that brought Ukaji to the present day Ufuma on the Western side of Mmam River where he finally settled sharing boundaries with Inyi in the East, Ndikelionwu and Akpu in the West, Akpugoeze and Awa in the North, Nawfijah, Ogbunka and Ajalli in the South.
Ukaji took as a wife a woman called ‘’Lolo” and both founded and established the town now known as Ufuma. Providence shone on them and blessed them with three surviving children; a daughter and two sons namely Ehi (Ehianataram Nwa), Okpuno (Nkpo Ulom Echina) and Nebo (Ihe Ana Ebom, Chim Azaram ha). Ehi was the first surviving child of Ukaji though a female while Okpuno was the second surviving child but a male. Nebo, also male was the third surviving child. John Ross in his intelligence Notes of 1929 on the towns of Ajalli native court area noted that:
Ehi, though the first child of Uvume was a woman and was left at home to bear children for the family without being given out in marriage. She had many offsprings some of which were men who also got married and bore their own children. Some of the offspring of the lineage of Ehi merged together and had 3 descendants namely Umuogem, Umuonyiuka and Umueji.
Okpuno, the second child and first son of Uvume, gave birth to Ike, Agu, Onyiba and Ukwa. These in turn had offsprings with their descendants named after them as Umuike (now Enugwuabo) Umuaguosibe, Umuonyiba and Umu-ukwa respectively. However, due to the ravages of war the descendants of Umu-Ukwa were almost consumed and most scattered to various locations while a small remaining number merged with Umuaguosibe.
Enugwuabo is currently made up of 9 related constituent units namely, Umuopia, Umueze, Aguowa, Omako, Umummem, Umujuru, Umuibe, Umuorjinta and Umuonyi.
